Reverberations: Lineages in Design History Exhibition

Explore how more than 50 artists and designers are reshaping the narrative and reclaiming design legacies.

Discover the many stories too often left out of design history on an in-depth tour of Reverberations: Lineages in Design History. This thought-provoking exhibition transforms the Ford Foundation Gallery into an educational and visionary space—where the voices of Indigenous, Black, and People of Color designers reverberate through time, culture, and creative lineage.

Curated by Brian Johnson and Silas Munro, Reverberations counters the dominant narrative of a singular design tradition and instead celebrates over fifty artists and designers whose work reflects powerful cultural ancestries and futures. The exhibition draws inspiration from the BIPOC Design History courses developed by the design studio Polymode—an ongoing experiment in inclusive design education.

Please note: this event is geared for students.
