House Industries Turns Thirty

30 Years of Type & Design Shenanigans

It’s been thirty years since House Industries blew the doors off… well, everything we know about design. With their inspirational roots deep in Americana and pop-culture, they remixed and redefined what it means to launch a type foundry. Soon, their iconic fonts like Neutraface, Chalet, and United were coveted by every designer, and as collectable as a rare 7-inch record. But fonts weren’t the only thing that House was interested in creating. From furniture to fashion, House became an unstoppable force touching every corner of the world. From Detroit to Tokyo, House has visualized some of the world’s most interesting brands: Hermès, Porsche, and The Jimmy Kimmel Show just to name a few. As JJ Abrams says “If there were any place I wished I worked that I don’t, it’s House.”

Join founder Andy Cruz for the behind the scenes story of building House from the ground up, how he balances his love of design with the realities of commerce, and all the misadventures along the way. After the talk, Andy will be giving away select artifacts from the House archive. Must be present to win!
