Magicians use them to trick our eyes and minds. Marketers use them to convince us to buy things we don’t really need. But what if we told you that design has the power to use “smoke & mirrors” for the greater good?

On November 6th, AIGA NY and ThoughtMatter are celebrating design’s capacity to pique curiosity, inspire discovery and encourage meaningful action.

Join us for a night of allure, oddities, intrigue and cocktails at The Wooly – a speakeasy hidden below the historic Woolworth Building. Through interactive smoke screens, secret riddles revealing free drink tickets, and mind-bending illusions, together we’ll challenge the notion of “smoke & mirrors” and explore how our practice is not intended to embellish or deceive but to astonish and amaze.

AIGA NY invites members and their guest to enjoy happy hours at The Wooly, a historic private bar in the basement of the Woolworth building hosted by a local design studio. This is an opportunity to see friends, meet new people and have a couple of drinks!
