KELLI ANDERSON: DISRUPTIVE WONDER
With her untamed imagination and meticulous craftsmanship, Kelli Anderson is the designer we’d all love to hate, if only she wasn’t so damn nice. Our AIGA/NY board is thrilled to have Kelli share the story of her design process, aka Disruptive Wonder. By incorporating an awareness of viewer expectations, Kelli believes we can either make things to confirm expectations of reality, or instead make surreal, absurd experiences that refuse to behave in the expected way.
If you don’t already know Kelli and her work, visit her website to see projects like a paper record player invitation, designs for solar powered ice pops, or tons of fun stuff for Neutral Milk Hotel. She is an artist, designer, and tinkerer who enjoys the challenge of seeking out hidden possibility in the physical and digital world. From interactive paper to layered, experimental websites, everything begins and ends in Kelli’s Brooklyn studio which houses a 1919 letterpress and an assortment of other benevolent contraptions.
So please join us in welcoming 2012 with an evening of Disruptive Wonder (and if we’re lucky, Kelli’s grandmother’s famous peanut butter fudge).
