Design Spotlight
The Art & Science behind Duolingo

Delight, motion, animation, systems, craft, brand, SILLINESS!

It takes a lot of rigor to be this fun. Join Mig Reyes and the Duolingo design team for an inside look at the systems, craft, and character work behind one of the most joyfully unhinged brands. They’ll share how a cast of characters, a playful motion language, and a diligent design system come together to keep millions of learners coming back every day.

Expect real talk about the process, the experiments, and the decisions behind those moments of delight, plus a few laughs along the way.

Speaker

Mig Reyes

Mig Reyes leads Design across one of the world’s most loved learning products. His career spans hits of internet-era design: Threadless, Basecamp, Instagram, and a stint at a Michelin-starred restaurant booking platform. He’s also spent years building creative community — founding CreativeMornings Chicago, president of AIGA Chicago, and starting Humble Pied, a project where designers share the stuff they wish someone had told them earlier.
