Casa Davka & Emily Cohen
Build Your New Business Pipeline

This event has been moved to a new location: Theresa Lang Community and Student Center
Arnhold Hall, room I202 55 West 13th Street

You’re invited to a moderated conversation and guided Q&A on business development and relationship building with consultants Emily Cohen and Hunter Vargas of Casa Davka.

Do you define business development as “cold calling,” “sales,” or “marketing”? Do you rely on referrals or SEO for most of your new business? Are you allowing existing clients to shape your firm’s direction? This conversation will focus on strategies for building authentic, one-to-one relationships with prospects that take time, focus, ongoing nurturing, and a change in tactics. When done well, these strategies can be a fun, challenging, and rewarding aspect of any successful business, leading to better-qualified and longer-term, mutually rewarding relationships. You’ll learn why you need to change your thinking about what new business actually is and better, more authentic ways to do it.

This conversation will be followed by a Q&A with the audience, during which you can get honest, straightforward feedback and solutions to your most pressing business development questions and connect with industry peers to hear their challenges and concerns, as well as the opportunities they are exploring.

You can also expect some healthy debate and energizing conversation, as Emily and Hunter don’t always agree, but that’s where they find the best solutions come from!

This event will be moderated by Heather-Mariah Dixon, AIGA NY board member and partner at Overeasy.

Hunter Vargas

Hunter, Partner at Casa Davka, officially joined Emily’s practice in Summer 2022 to grow our practice, elevate our offerings, and provide a fresh perspective to our clients. Her on-the-ground insight and experience from working as a marketer, project manager, client partner, and business development manager within multiple creative firms, paired with her unique, younger perspective, are a huge asset to our consulting practice. Hunter truly knows our industry inside and out.

She also happens to be Emily’s daughter and can read her mind so we work together seamlessly, complementing each other in many ways. (And, don’t worry—we’re in therapy. 😉)
