GRAPHIC DESIGN–UNDER DISCUSSION

The exhibition “Graphic Design–Now In Production” is the first major museum survey of graphic design in over fifteen years, and it is the first curatorial collaboration between Walker Art Center in Minneapolis and Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum in New York City. Conceived by curators Andrew Blauvelt and Ellen Lupton, the exhibition explores recent innovations in the field, emphasizing how designers today are using tools, technologies, and systems in order to become authors, instigators, and entrepreneurs.

Ellen Lupton will join designers and critics Michael Bierut, Alice Twemlow, and Rob Giampietro for an evening of debate and discussion: Why this show now? What does the exhibition aim to achieve? What questions does it raise? What will the field look like fifteen years from now?

The exhibition is on view at Governors Island through Sept 3, Saturdays, Sundays, and
holiday Mondays, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
