Inspired by the youth-led movement for common sense gun safety laws, we’re calling on designers, typographers, and artists to create shareable graphics that inspire their friends and family come out for the “March for Our Lives” on Saturday, March 24th. Through compelling design we can make sure that people who care about gun violence will take to the streets and make their voices heard.
We’re asking designers from New York and beyond to create a square 1200 x 1200 pixel graphic for posting on Instagram and Facebook. Please post your images (or image series) with the hashtags #marchforourlives and #AIGANY, and AIGA NY will identify a select number of graphics to repost on our Instagram feed.
Graphics should use typography and simple imagery to get people out to the New York City march.
They should include:
March for Our Lives, NYC
Saturday, March 24, 10:00 AM
West 72nd St & Central Park West
For designers who’d like to go further, you can visit Everytown for Gun Safety Support Fund for facts and figures on gun deaths in schools. We encourage you to visually draw out these statistics and add them to your social media posts.
Through the power of graphic design we can catalyse our communities and bring a strong and diverse group of people to the March for Our Lives. Please help us spread the word and come march with us on the 24th!
This event is part of AIGA NY’s ongoing Citizen Designer Now! Initiative, to find out more sign up for the group’s dedicated Slack channel, and please consider signing the Citizen Designer Now pledge.
