We designers pride ourselves on being veterans of change. Out with the old, in with the new, on to the next thing. However, as some of us say farewell after two years of service on the Board of Directors, we feel it's time to pause and reflect.
We have spent two years creating programming that reflects the seismic shifts in design. Events have charted the diverse and expanded reach of communication design. Our membership responded positively with sold-out events, helping to generate excitement and a new sense of loyalty within the New York design community.
We're proud to say that chapter membership has grown consistently. We attribute that growth to hallmark events like the Apple Design Remixed Series, our Education conferences, the Body/Language fashion conference and Fresh Dialogue 24 with John Maeda.
Carin Goldberg's leadership as AIGA/NY Chapter President made this remarkable work possible. Drew Hodges, AIGA/NY Chapter President as of 1 June, will continue to lead the chapter as the new Board of Directors plans for the fall season.
Thanks to our members, past, present and future board colleagues, and the many others who supported us in ways too numerous to mention. It's been a fantastic run.
