BREAKFAST CLUB FEBRUARY: BEYOND DESIGN: VOICE LESSONS IN BRANDING

BREAKFAST CLUB February: Beyond Design: Voice Lessons in Branding

Can you hear a logo? Does a package speak? From people to products and places, we all have a voice, a personality that separates us from the rest. Creating brand recognition goes beyond the grail of great design. At our Breakfast Club in February we will explore how distinctive voices are born, evolve, and even impact our culture.

Riva Weinstein, a copy writer at Saatchi & Saatchi, will share ear-opening perspectives from 20+ years collaborating with designers, art directors, photographers and other visually oriented creative professionals on everything from packaging copy to TV commercials. We'll also do some hands on intuitive exercises to help expand our own visions of voice for our brands, businesses - even ourselves.

Riva currently works on the Olay brand at Saatchi and Saatchi. She has been on both the agency and client sides of the fashion/beauty business for Almay, L'Oreal, Max Factor, Bendel's, Revlon & Ralph Lauren as well as Bank of America, Bazooka Bubblegum and Barbie. Her branding work for Aveda was on the leading edge of the environmental wave. Riva is also a creativity coach and workshop facilitator, an artist, jewelry designer and author of Magic Medicine: Rx for Creativity.

BREAKFAST CLUB

AIGA/NY’s Casual Morning Get-Together for the Sharing of Knowledge and the Drinking of Coffee.*

Starting with Breakfast Club NO.1 in October 2008, we have met on the second Tuesday of every month for coffee, a nibble and spirited conversation. Each Breakfast Club explores a specific topic of focus and is introduced by a discussion leader. Our conversations cover the range of creative, financial and pragmatic challenges that designers too often face alone—challenges that can often be overcome with open, casual dialogue. Muffins and croissants and amazing Mud coffee are provided.

*(or Tea)

Breakfast Club is open to AIGA members only and is a free event.
