Small Talk No. 7: Alisa Grifo

LOCAL/GLOBAL
A look at KIOSK, the store for objects that celebrate local aesthetics

Alisa Grifo opened KIOSK two years ago as an alternative to mass-produced, over-designed goods in support of local artists and small-scale production around the world. With a fascination for design, travel, and objects resulting from local needs that express the unique identity of a country, Kiosk offers an ever-changing selection of humble, straightforward, often traditional or anonymous goods (unavailable in the United States) for sale through their Soho shop, and website. Current collaborations include a store-within-the-store at the Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum, and an installation at the Swiss Institute in New York.

SMALL TALKS SERIES:
Extra large ideas find an intimate home in a formal setting. Small Talks at Bumble and bumble are opportunities to explore a panoply of visual ephemera, flights of fancy and literal brilliance. Passions will be exposed, methods unveiled, and stories shared in a series designed to provoke, inspire and delight.
