Small Talk No. 3: Peter Arkle and Amy Goldwasser
Small Talks are intimate evenings featuring presentations by speakers who represent a broad spectrum of visual culture. Expose yourself to various passions, disciplines, ways of working, and ways of seeing. Join fellow members in the Bumble and bumble auditorium in the Meatpacking District (after wine and hors d’oeuvres in the library) for a series that is sure to inspire and inform.
Peter Arkle and Amy Goldwasser live together in one apartment on Avenue C and work together in the apartment next door. Peter is an illustrator who draws regularly for Bumble and bumble and has been writing, illustrating, and publishing Peter Arkle News regularly since 1993 (when he was still at art school in London). Amy is a freelance editor and writer, specializing in launch consulting. She also teaches magazine editing in the Columbia Publishing Course and at NYU.
Peter and Amy often end up having completely different experiences working for the same clients, including the New York Times, the New Yorker, New York Magazine, ID, Absolute, Lexus, Pentagram, and Sullivan. Only rarely do they get to work together on the same project—or at least get paid to do so, Amy is the editor of Peter Arkle News—but, as they share a home and an office, they could be said to collaborate on everything. Peter grew up in Penicuik, near Edinburgh. Amy’s from Detroit.
The font for this event's graphic, ITC Zapf International, was chosen by AIGA member Mark Miller, and the color, PMS 2945, by AIGA member Jennifer Holst.
