Katie is a multidisciplinary creative interested in the convergence between design and pop-culture, and determined to entice and convince even the biggest skeptics that design, is in fact, important.
Katie was formally trained as a Graphic Designer at Rochester Institute of Technology. However, somewhere along the line she switched gears from creating, to observing and documenting, setting her sights on a Master of Fine Arts in Design Criticism from the School of the Visual Arts (2010). She has been working as a creative chameleon ever since, applying her diverse skills to projects with Pentagram Design, Huge Inc. and Column Five, among others. She also co-authored a book, Typography Referenced, for Rockport Publishers, and has contributed to various sites including Complex Magazine.
Currently, Katie is running her own creative studio: Hondo Creative. The agnostic creative company specializes in strategy-led design and content development, with a focus on marketing and branding. The analytic and strategic approach to creative, bridges the gap between business challenges and creative solutions across a variety of media, from branding to digital to experiential design and everything in-between.
